The Janata Dal (United) said on Saturday that the denial of special category status to Bihar by PM Narendra Modi's government at the Centre was equivalent to "injustice".

On the final day of a three-day  Eid al-Fitr  ceasefire, the Taliban said they would resume fighting, despite President Ashraf Ghani's announcement that the government was extending its own ceasefire with the group by 10 days. A Bill enacting Britain’s decision to leave the European Union (E.U.) has become law after months of debate, the Speaker of Parliament announced on Tuesday to cheers from Conservative Party lawmakers. Speaker John Bercow said the E.U. (Withdrawal) Bill, which repeals the 1972 European Communities Act through which Britain became a member, had received royal assent from Queen Elizabeth II.
